Keaghan Townsend

This 17-yr old lo-fi musician plays guitar-centric tracks with a meandering sound I would expect to accompany me on an epic journey to find the zombie hand of Nick Drake.
His tracks are multi-layered often with a second guitar part, the more pop-tronic sounding synth xylophone or a harmonica. His lo-fi sound is surprisingly well matured and mixed for a self-recorded album. Check out his submission:
Hi there,
My name is Keaghan Townsend, and I’m a 17 year old, lo-fi musician. I play what most would call “indie/folk” music, with numerous comparisons to Iron & Wine, Nick Drake, Jose Gonzalez, Elliott Smith, Conor Oberst, Jack Johnson etc. I record everything solo, and typically play solo shows, but I am currently forming a backing band for a few upcoming local shows and a possible multi-state tour. This summer I will be releasing a full length concept album, “Sparrow/Oak,” that tells a story of an anthropomorphized tree, birds possessing humans, humans on par with dirty dogs, mother nature’s womb etc etc. I put a LOT of effort and thought into my lyrics and my music in general. Thus, I honestly think this album has the potential to be really, really good, and go somewhere and so I’m really trying to get the word out about it. I think that once you sit down and listen to my music, you’ll like it.
I’ve always been a sucker for concept albums and this kid’s got some potential. Check out his tracks after the bump: (more…)
