Astronautalis

Just last night we were at the Sego festival and in between sets we had a little Astronautalis playing. With no exaggeration we had 15 people or more come by the booth to find out who was playing.
Crazy fusion
Andy Bothwell (Astro him self) has influences in hiphop, indie rock, british shoegazer, punk and more. This eclectic background gives Astro the traction he needs to make varied and, really interesting, music. He switches effortlessly between rapping and singing so that sometimes people are surprised to find out that he really is classified as a rapper.
Infinite Tracks
Astro has a lot of fun songs tracking on classics from Bob Dylan or Johnny Cash. The wonderful thing about it is that so many artists are trying so hard to match their genre that they won’t give credit to good music across the river. Astro on the other hand seems right in his element where genre isn’t a question and sound is. Check the music after the bump (more…)
